Auckland Internship Programs

All students enroll in one required course, then enroll directly at the University of Auckland or Auckland University of Technology (AUT), depending on their specific field and interests. Students take two courses at the university of their choice and complete an 8- to 10-week internship as their fourth and final course. Fall Semester The fall semester runs for approximately 16 weeks. During the Core Phase, students take the required course for five to six weeks and enroll in two elective courses from the host university’s Semester II course selection. During the Internship Phase, students continue with their two elective courses while placed in their internship. Spring Semester The spring semester runs for approximately 24 weeks during New Zealand’s summer and fall. Therefore, students enroll in both the New Zealand summer session (January–February) and Semester I (March–June). During the summer session, students take the required course and enroll in one elective course. During Semester I, students participate in an internship and enroll in one other elective course.

IES Abroad Tokyo - Language & Culture - Semester/Academic Year

Explore centuries-old temples, gardens, and castles that are only minutes from ultra-modern skyscrapers, electronics stores, and haute couture fashion centers. Dine on sushi and tempura, attend a sumo match or a baseball game, and learn tea ceremony, karate, or breakdancing. Take classes in the town of Makuhari, on the tip of Tokyo Bay, and just 45 minutes from the heart of the city. All of this and so much more awaits you in Tokyo! Expand your understanding of Japan by immersing yourself in contemporary Japan and its culture—and what better way to learn the Japanese language? At Kanda University of International Studies (KUIS), you take a 6-credit language course specially designed for IES Abroad students (with the option of taking up to 12 credits of language), plus area studies courses taught in English. The English-language course offerings look at Japan from the point of view of popular culture, history, politics, and the arts. Founded in 1987, KUIS is a private university dedicated to the pursuit of excellence in International Studies, Foreign Languages, Intercultural Communication, Japanese Culture, and Linguistics.

AIFS Study Abroad in Florence, Italy

Earn credits through a wide variety of courses when you study in beautiful, historic Florence at Richmond University. You’ll have the option to live in a homestay or in a student apartment as you experience many social and cultural activities, such as trips to local art galleries, an Italian cooking class, and visits to the local museums. Enjoy trips to Rome, Siena and Venice, immersing yourself in the Italian culture. Volunteer and internship opportunities are also available. AIFS in Florence includes a one-week orientation before the semester begins so students can acclimate themselves to Italian language and culture. Fall semester students attend orientation in the beach-side town of Pietrasanta, while spring semester students attend orientation in Rome. A for-credit International Internship Program (IIP) is also available, in which students take a 2-week Intensive Language Preparation course worth 2 credits. In the spring semester, a Fashion Management and Marketing Program is also offered. Volunteer opportunities are available and interested students can enhance their volunteer work with a for-credit Service Learning and Active Citizenship course. In the summer, academic and internship programs are offered, including a 3-week Wine Marketing Program (1 week in Barolo and 2 weeks in Florence). EMGIP - Bundestag Internship

Requirements Applicants should possess outstanding academic records and personal integrity, and should have some knowledge of the German legislative process. Participants should be advanced undergraduate (junior and senior in US/third- or fourth-year in Canada) or Master’s students in fields such as political science, international relations, law, history, economics or German. PhD students are not eligible. Students must be fluent in spoken German and possess excellent writing skills. Terms of Award The successful applicant will receive a monthly salary from the German Bundestag. Subsidized health insurance is available through DAAD for a monthly fee. DAAD can help the interns obtain housing in Berlin and make contacts with fellow international interns and German students. Travel expenses are the intern’s responsibility.

Summer Graduate Internship

Each semester/summer Diversity Abroad offers the opportunity for graduate students interested in international education and cultural exchange to pursue a remote practicum with the organization. Individuals will receive a stipend for their contributions.Projects will range from conducting research in global education, creating resources for the Diversity Abroad community, and developing strategies to amplify the organization’s impact. Past projects have included:Contributing to Diversity Abroad’s Good Practices Series that highlight inclusive practices from higher education institutions, international education organization and other stakeholders from the Diversity Abroad Community.Creating a Study Abroad Advising Guide Hosting a Diversity Abroad Community DiscussionDeveloping a survey for study abroad students and Minority Serving Institutions As a graduate intern, you will gain insight into a social impact organization and work with leaders in the field of international education. The CAPA Florence Global Cities Program

Located in the Santa Croce neighborhood of Florence, the CAPA Florence Program hosts students to attend classes and soak up history and culture in the center of the city’s traditional art quarter. As a completely walk able city, students experience the rich history of the renaissance city around every corner. In Florence, learning does not stop at the classroom door. Students have endless world-renowned museums to visit as well as access to the library at the British Institute, which is home to more than 50,000 English books. Through exploring Florence, the home to the Renaissance, students encounter diversity in neighborhoods with distinctive shops, art, restaurants, and lifestyle.

Argentina: Public Health in Urban Environments
