This program is offered for those students who are looking to enhance their Spanish language skills while working abroad in one of Europe’s most important vibrant commercial centers. Students with sufficient language skills take three courses along with an internship, which ranges between 15 and 20 hours per week.
Participating in a guaranteed semester internship in Barcelona gives you the opportunity to learn more about the city’s commerce, education, technology startups, entertainment, media, and fashion industries through a full-time internship at local company or organization. Spend 30-40 hours per week at your internship, and spend the rest of your time exploring all that Barcelona has to offer! When you intern in Barcelona, not only will you be able to secure an unpaid, for-credit, internship placement, but you will also get a chance to develop professional skills that will help you communicate across cultures alongside real work experience that will help jump start your career.
Study in the lively city of Granada, perched between the dazzling white peaks of the Sierra Nevada and the glistening blue Mediterranean of the Costa del Sol. During your stay you will see some of the most beautiful and intricate buildings of the medieval world and soak in traditional Spanish culture with the white-washed villages, flamenco music, bullfights and festivals. Enjoy activities throughout the semester in and around Granada including visits to the Alhambra palace and the Generalife Palace. Explore other parts of Spain including a 3-day trip to Gibraltar, Seville, and Cordoba, as well as a day trip to Nerja on the Costa del Sol. Travel on the optional AIFS Flight Package and begin your trip with a 3-day excursion to London, England en route to Granada. Multiple program and internship options are offered during semester, academic year and summer terms. Spain is the land of passionate flamenco dancing, thrilling bullfights, world class professional soccer, delicious paella, world renowned wine, and the language and culture that have influenced so many other countries all over the world. Interns who choose Spain as their destination have the opportunity to immerse themselves in this passionate and centuries-old culture, where multi-generational families remain tight-knit, and traditional foods are savored by proud locals. Students and graduates who intern in Spain gain meaningful professional experience in their career field, while also working on their Spanish language skills. And during their free time, interns can explore Spain’s many unique regions and cities, or travel farther afield to other European destinations. Interns can expect to work side by side with local colleagues, receive direction from a manager or staff member, and behave just as one would in a real job. On weekends or after work hours, interns engage in a host of activities depending on each participant’s tastes. Interns share meals with new friends or host family members, take in cultural events, explore the city, or even take day or weekend trips outside of the area. World Endeavors provides a list of possible activities in the area and the World Endeavors local coordinator can also function as an ever present guide and ambassador to the area.
At CIS, full degree-seeking students are required to complete internships which has led us to develop a vast network of more than 100 prestigious national and multinational businesses and corporations. The internship program takes advantage of our already well developed relations with companies, allowing students to enhance their CV through valuable international work experience. They also gain confidence working in a different language and cultural environment and increases their integration into Spanish society. Students will receive credits for the internship depending on the hours performed and also have the opportunity to take a Spanish class and/or the “Introduction to Spain” course for credit.

Spain is now one of the most dynamic members of the European Union and Madrid is a thriving political and commercial center. EPA has developed a strong network of companies across industries to take on interns in Madrid. Our students receive successful placements for internships from a broad portfolio of opportunities that help them gain valuable international work experience and prepare them for a successful future. During the semester program, EPA interns work approximately 25 hours a week at their internship placement, and semester students take two courses at Nebrija University. The EPA Internships in Europe program in Madrid requires at least two years of college-level Spanish or the equivalent. Students take classes in Spanish and are placed in professional work environments where they are required to speak, read, and write in the language.
